Update to Spoiler section[edit]

More has came out on the spoiler stuff that needs to be mentioned.

1. Candidate Donald J Trump went on a rant via multiple posts on Truth Social against RFK jr, referring to him as a Democrat plant recently.

https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/112340329782516692

2. RFK Jr. has fired back with accusing Biden of being a spoiler.

2a. Funnily enough, going by the 20k Zogby poll that was conducted and the definition according to Wiktionary (sister project to Wikipedia) of spoiler "A competitor, unable to win themselves, who spoils the chances of another’s victory. ", Biden does fit this definition in this case.

2a would be original research and not necessary to include but thought it was interesting to mention regardless. Buildershed (talk) 20:55, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

RFK Jr. has challenged Donald Trump to a debate at the Libertarian National Convention.[1] Should that be added to the "Spoiler effect" section of this page? 98.20.152.150 (talk) 22:05, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@98.20.152.150 I don't think this applies to being a spoiler. Buildershed (talk) 22:07, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
or anything related to "spoiler" Buildershed (talk) 22:08, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kennedy's brain worm[edit]

Hello.

Should we mention the following information in the "Controversies" section of this page, or is it irrelevant? [1] [2] [3] [4] David A (talk) 11:27, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Aren't both Kennedy and Shanahan from California?[edit]

I thought the president and the veep had to be from different states. HandsomeFella (talk) 15:13, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Strictly speaking the rule is that when the Electoral College meets, they must issue certificates for a presidential candidate, and a vice-presidential candidate not from the same state as the presidential candidate. Since we have never had this happen, I don't know what they would do, but presumably they would be constitutionally barred from certifying both candidates as winners. There is no law that prevents them from appearing on state ballots as a ticket. BD2412 T 16:06, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the situation arose where Kennedy and Shanahann won Massachusetts, the 11 electors could vote for either but not both, as states usually do. Zaathras (talk) 21:33, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ventura should be removed as an endorsement. When asked if he would vote for RFK Jr. in an interview, Ventura said "I don't know yet" (April 19th, 2024). AceGothstein (talk) 00:38, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done I checked the existing source and it only says that he introduced him at a rally, not that he endorsed him. This shouldn't have been added in the first place, thanks for pointing it out. Jamedeus (talk) 01:37, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Split "Political positions" into speparate page[edit]

The "Political positions" section is getting pretty long, and can probably be spun off into a separate page, like it is for other political candidates. The section on this page can remain with a brief paragraph summarizing the positions, then linking off to the main article. Thoughts? Sk5893 (talk) 19:57, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I personally disagree, as I think they are extremely relevant for improved context about the viewpoints that he stands for. David A (talk) 12:55, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It does seem redundant to have his positions on both this page and his own page, but it is still relevant for the topic of this page and it appears other candidate's pages have their established political positions listed. AstralNomad (talk) 18:44, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Catherine Austin Fitts did not endorse RFK Jr. for President. Just talked to her yesterday. She has differences with his 2nd Amendment stance, the Israel - Gaza conflict and Federal missing $Trillions. PLEASE REMOVE her from the endorsement. list.Italic text Aridzonan13 (talk) 14:45, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The cited source did not mention Fitts ever actually endorsing Kennedy. For the future, we don't generally accept "talked to her yesterday" as evidence, but it's a good thing you brought attention to this issue. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:45, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Change the ballot access map to include Florida, given the Reform Party's recent nomination of RFK Jr. Brotherandy12 (talk) 14:01, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done The Reform Party does not have ballot access in Florida or any other state. Reportedly it has filed an application. -- M.boli (talk) 15:00, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that they should clarify in the Democracy section that when RFK Jr did not unambiguously state that Biden was definitely a larger threat to democracy, but rather he stated that he could make a case for Biden being a larger threat to democracy. This is something that has constantly been taken out of context, and it is shameful that this has passed the scrutiny of Wikipedia's most trustworthy editors who are obligated to attempt to be without bias as much as possible. laganrat (talk) 21:45, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Reliable sources do not describe this as ambiguous, please see the citation. The title is RFK Jr. argues that Biden is a bigger threat to democracy than Trump, and he clearly states he thinks Biden is a bigger threat in this part:

He added that if he had to label one a greater threat to democracy than the other, he’d choose Biden because he feels the president has been “weaponizing the federal agencies” against his opponents.

That clip very conveniently starts right after he says "I can make the argument". See the full interview right at about the 10 minute mark. You can see the transcript of the full interview here directly from CNN: https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/ebo/date/2024-04-01/segment/01 "KENNEDY: Listen, I can make the argument that President Biden is a much worse threat to democracy." laganrat (talk) 03:18, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
